Products

Below are some common questions about our products

How long will my pillow last?

If cared for properly, your Ballast outdoor pillow should see you through several beach and camping seasons. Here are some important tips to keep in mind:

Use Your Pillow On a Blanket Or Towel
Be sure to protect your pillow from sharp objects, and this includes broken shells, twigs, and craggy rocks that can sometimes be found in sand. For this reason, we encourage you to place your pillow on a towel rather than directly on the sand itself. Even the softest sand can contain hidden objects that can tear, or puncture, your pillow.

Dry Fabric Completely Before Storing
Make sure the pillow is completely dry before storing it to prevent mold or mildew from forming. Fortunately the Ballast pillow fabric dries fast, especially in the sun.

How do I clean my Ballast products?

We have tried to keep cleaning and drying as simple as possible for our products. See below for specific suggestions and instructions:

Pillows: Highly recommend hand washing with warm, soapy water and air drying. If machine washing is a must, keep it on warm and low. Do not put it in the dryer, as it can damage the air valve and bladder.

Blankets: Can be hand washed, machine washed, and machine dried. They are made from water-proof and sand-resistant material.

Towel & Travel Bands: Highly recommend hand washing with warm, soapy water and air drying. Since these have hard plastic buckles, we do not recommend using a machine, as they could potentially damage the machine and/or break the band.

Pillowcases: Can be hand washed, machine washed, and machine dried. They are made from water-proof and sand-resistant material.

My pillow is not staying inflated/the air valve is not working properly

Please try pushing down on the air valve button and turning it 180° to open it up and let the air in smoother. If the problem persists, please reach out to contact@ballastgear.com.

Can I freeze the Cooling Gel Packs?

Yes, you can freeze our Cooling Gel Packs. This is a great way to keep them colder for longer, as well.

Can I bring the Cooling Gel Packs with me on an airplane?

We recommend freezing your gel packs, if you plan on bringing them as a carry on. If you are able to put them in your checked back, you do not have to have them frozen.
